Little General Kids are on the lookout for a fabulous Casual Retail Sales Assistant to join our team working in our fun and fabulous Kids store in Woodend. We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic salesperson who loves spreading joy and making others feel great, with an interest in our shop and the ability to work both independently and in a team. 

Who we are:

We are a local family owned and operated business, a team of busy mums, running both Woodend General and Little General Kids. We exist to make our customers feel good, we want to make their day and give them the best experience possible every time they visit or shop online.

Little General Kids was founded by us, sisters Lou and Ange, after the success of our kids collection in our first store Woodend General, we saw the opportunity to expand that part of the business and open a stand alone kids store, which we did in Woodend in August 2024.  

At Little General Kids we stock a collection of the best Baby & Kids brands from around Australia and the world, and love nothing more than curating a beautiful collection full of quality products that can be used and passed on for years to come. Our store is a magical haven for kids and adults alike and we work hard to create a beautiful in-store space and experience. 

Who you are:

We are after a confident, positive and motivated individual to join our Little General Kids Team. Someone who loves people and most importantly kids, who can help customers to find that something special, all whilst working to get the many other tasks done that need to be achieved throughout the day. 

Experience in Lightspeed and Shopify is advantageous, but we will be able to teach you everything you’ll need to know about how to receive stock, process online orders and general day to day admin. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, an eye for detail and ideally an interest in Babies and Kids, and knowledge of the brands that we stock. 

This position we have available is for a Saturday casual position. The right candidate must be available Saturdays 10am-3pm, with the flexibility to rotate other weekend shifts (all day Saturday and/or Sunday were necessary). 

At least 2 years of relevant retail experience is required in order to be considered for this position, please do not apply if you have none. 

Job responsibilities

  • Reporting to the store manager, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the store, including opening and closing, sales, inventory movements, in-store visual merchandising and promotions, etc
  • Greeting customers and providing an excellent customer experience by going above and beyond and ensuring every customer has a positive experience in store and leaves feeling great. 
  • Provide product knowledge and recommendations to customers
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain a clean and organised store environment
  • Stock shelves and maintain inventory levels
  • Receive in deliveries
  • Process and pack online orders
  • Handle customer queries and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve store objectives

Your Skills

  • At least 2 years of relevant retail experience ideally in a fashion/kids/toy shop environment
  • Good knowledge of retail, operations and more importantly excellent customer experience
  • A warm welcoming nature and generosity of spirit. With a passion to help customers and to build relationships within our wonderful Woodend community, ensuring everyone that visits has a warm and positive experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Interest and knowledge of children’s products, toys and clothing advantageous
  • Visual merchandising experience preferred but not essential
  • Lightspeed POS and Shopify experience preferred but not essential
  • A passion for children and children’s retail is a must
  • Ability to work flexibly - on weekends and holidays
